What to expect
An adult Groodle’s energy varies with size, personality and health. Build life around the dog you have rather than a fixed daily distance. Their willingness to keep playing is only one part of judging whether an activity suits them.
Everyday care for your Groodle
Maintain a rhythm of exercise, mental activity and rest. Recheck bed space and walking fit after weight or coat changes. Use regular grooming as a chance to notice new lumps, sore patches or changes in comfort.
Food, exercise & rest
Keep portions matched to body condition and workload. Avoid concentrating a week’s exercise into one demanding weekend. If stiffness develops, ask for an individual movement plan rather than increasing exercise to push through it.
What to watch for
Report persistent lameness, difficulty rising and changes in appetite or weight. Larger, deep-chested dogs can be vulnerable to bloat/GDV: repeated attempts to vomit without producing anything, abdominal swelling or sudden distress require an emergency vet immediately.
Questions for your vet
Ask about joint health, dental checks and screening appropriate to their parent lines. Discuss when to begin senior monitoring, particularly for a larger Groodle, rather than waiting for obvious frailty.
Use the Australian health calendar to plan prevention. Vaccine timing depends on the product, history and local risk. For tick-risk areas, ask about effective prevention and daily tick checks.
A small thing to try together
Write down three activities your Groodle enjoys and rotate them through the week. Include an easy option for days when the weather or their comfort calls for less.
