The essentials
Moodles, known elsewhere as Maltipoos, have Maltese and Poodle ancestry. A veterinary-reviewed guide gives an approximate lifespan of 13–16 years, although estimates vary. This is not an Australian cohort statistic, and individual outcomes differ.
Small details matter
Discuss kneecap checks and daily dental care with your vet. Patellar luxation may show as an intermittent skip or limp. Persistent bad breath, difficulty chewing and sore gums need assessment rather than being dismissed as normal small-dog traits.
Choose equipment using chest and neck measurements, not the word “small”. Light hardware and a secure fit matter. Our existing walking harness begins at 36 cm chest and may be too large for a smaller Moodle.
A routine to grow with
