What to expect

A larger Groodle may need senior adjustments earlier than a smaller Oodle. Use your vet’s assessment of size, history and condition. Slowing down, hesitating on stairs or struggling to settle can signal pain that deserves treatment.

Everyday care for your Groodle

Provide secure footing, a resting place with enough room to stretch and help with difficult access. Ask your vet about safe support for getting into the car. Preserve gentle social time and familiar routes while reducing physical demands.

Food, exercise & rest

Track both weight and muscle condition. Ask whether their diet still meets their needs, particularly if appetite falls or a disease is diagnosed. Keep movement regular and comfortable, with shorter outings and recovery time.

What to watch for

Notice worsening stiffness, unexplained weight loss, new lumps and changes in sleep or toileting. Seek assessment rather than attributing everything to age. Repeated unproductive retching, a swollen abdomen, collapse or breathing difficulty warrants urgent emergency care.

Questions for your vet

Discuss a senior review schedule, pain assessment, dental comfort and relevant blood or urine tests. Take videos of rising or walking at home if those difficulties disappear in the clinic.

Use the Australian health calendar to plan prevention. Vaccine timing depends on the product, history and local risk. For tick-risk areas, ask about effective prevention and daily tick checks.
