The Oodle Edit · A life shared
Keep the good days coming.
Familiar routines are a gift. This chapter is about keeping what works and noticing when your companion needs something different.
Choose your Oodle
Open the 3 years to senior guide for your dog’s breed mix.
General guidance for this age
Age 3 to their individual senior stage
Keep a useful baseline
- Track weight and ask your vet to assess body condition and muscle.
- Review food portions when activity or health changes.
- Maintain regular veterinary visits, dental care and coat care.
- Check the health calendar before holidays, boarding or a move.
- Record changes in thirst, toileting, stamina and behaviour.
Same love, different days
Try a new sniffing route or a simple search game. Let rest be part of the plan. Repeated limping or a new reluctance to move deserves assessment, even if your dog still gets excited for favourite activities.
When does “senior” begin?
AAHA places the senior stage in approximately the last quarter of expected lifespan. Size, health and individual ageing matter more than one birthday. Ask your vet when to start a senior care plan.
