The Oodle Edit · A life shared
The growing-up chapter
Some days they seem grown up. Other days, everything is exciting again. Keep the routine kind, clear and repeatable.
Choose your Oodle
Open the 9–18 months guide for your dog’s breed mix.
General guidance for this age
From 9 months until 18 months
Your practical checklist
- Review the vaccination record with your vet; do not assume the early puppy course completed every recommended booster.
- Recheck harness fit as chest shape and coat change.
- Keep training sessions manageable and reward the behaviour you want to see.
- Balance short walks, sniffing and play with opportunities to sleep undisturbed.
- Ask when your individual dog should move from growth food to adult food; a larger Groodle may be on a different timeline from a small Moodle.
Movement without pressure
Build activity gradually. Avoid forcing a growing dog to keep up with sustained running, repetitive jumping or a bicycle. Stop for fatigue, discomfort or reluctance; seek advice if this persists. There is no single exercise-minute formula that fits all Oodles.
Your next appointment
Take their vaccine record, food label, recent weight and any video of unusual movement. Ask about growth, dental development, parasite prevention and individual desexing timing.
Try this together
Keep a seven-day note: one thing they enjoyed, one thing that worried them, and one small success. Use it to choose the next achievable step.
Next: 18 months–3 years.
