What to expect

An older Moodle can remain playful while needing more support with comfort, teeth and familiar routines. Senior timing varies. A lifespan estimate for the breed mix is not a deadline or a reason to dismiss treatable changes.

Everyday care for your Moodle

Offer easy access to water and resting spots, secure footing and a predictable route to the toilet. Introduce changes gradually if vision or hearing is reduced. Ask before lifting if they seem uncomfortable and discuss safe handling with your vet.

Food, exercise & rest

Monitor appetite and weight rather than assuming a smaller meal is normal with age. Dental discomfort may affect eating. Ask your vet about food texture and nutrition; do not introduce a restrictive diet solely because they are older.

What to watch for

Notice night waking, disorientation, increased thirst, accidents and reluctance to move. Any new pattern merits a check. Report coughing or reduced stamina too; sudden breathing difficulty or collapse is an emergency.

Questions for your vet

Discuss more frequent senior reviews, mouth comfort, joint pain and appropriate screening. Take medicine details and a diary of appetite, sleep and toileting so decisions reflect daily life at home.

Use the Australian health calendar to plan prevention. Vaccine timing depends on the product, history and local risk. For tick-risk areas, ask about effective prevention and daily tick checks.
